Our story
El Arca de Cuevas grew from a small group of people who refused to look away when animals in our area needed help. Today we are a registered shelter run by volunteers, supported by members and donors from near and far.
How it started
What began as informal rescue work in the countryside around Cuevas de San Marcos became a proper shelter as more dogs arrived and more people wanted to help. The name El Arca — the Ark — reflects our hope of giving every dog a safe place.
Today
We care for dogs at our shelter in Belda, organise adoptions, food drives, and community events, and work with volunteers who walk dogs, help at fundraisers, and open their homes for foster care. We are a rural shelter, and we rely on the generosity of people who believe every dog deserves a chance.
